Torupilli district<\/strong><\/div>\n

The sauna at Tartu maantee is located at cultural and historical Torupilli district.<\/p>\n

The name of Torupilli district comes from an old tavern that was once located on the cross road of Tartu road and Torupilli street. <\/p>\n

In the beginning of the 20th century this part of Tallinn was mainly uninhabited, and paddocks, vegetable and fruit gardens were spreading here. The beginning of Tartu road, closer to city centre, was build up already in the 13th century, however the wide and steady constructing works started in 18th and 19th century. It was the time when Peter the Great declared Tallinn to be the base of Russian military navy on the coast of Baltic Sea. The relocated officers and boatswains started to buy real estate here in Tallinn. The Torupilli district solid development was finalized by 1910. It was unique that at this time a narrow track railway went right throw this district exactly at the corner of Tartu road 73 (see the picture on the right).  <\/p>\n

The building at Tartu road (or Tartu maantee) 73 is from 19th century. The construction of the building started from T\u00fcrnpu street, where originally was a horse stable. Later a laundry, sauna and apartments were built. By 1882 the construction was finalized and with this a modern service building was established. <\/p>\n

\r\n\r\nTartu maantee leilisaun asub Tallinna Torupilli milj\u00f6\u00f6v\u00e4\u00e4rtusliku ala piiril.\r\n\r\nTorupilli asum sai oma nime kunagi Torupilli t\u00e4nava ja Tartu maantee nurgal asuva samanimelise k\u00f5rtsi j\u00e4rgi. Torupilli ala piirid l\u00e4hevad t\u00e4na Tartu maanteelt m\u00f6\u00f6da Pronksi t\u00e4navat Gonsiori t\u00e4navanini ning sealt Vilmsi ja Lubja t\u00e4nava kaudu taas Tartu maanteele.\r\n\r\n20. sajandi alguses oli see Talliinna eeslinn veel enamjaolt asustamata ning siin laiusid karjakoplid, juurvilja- ja viljapuuaiad. Tartu maantee algus aga oli hoonestatud juba 13. sajandi aguses. 18. sajandi l\u00f5puks oli Tartu maantee hoonestatud kuni t\u00e4nase Odra t\u00e4nava ristmikuni. Torupilli asumi piirkonna \u00fchtlasem hoonestus hakkas tekkima 18. ja 19. sajandil kui Peeter I korralduse alusel m\u00e4\u00e4rati Tallinn Vene s\u00f5jalaevastiku baasiks L\u00e4\u00e4nemerel ning baasi ohvitserid ja pootsmanid omandasid eeslinnades krunte. Torupilli asumis algas p\u00f5hiline elamuala rajamine peale 1910. aastat. Lisaks tsaariaegsetele elamutele ehitati siia mitmeid Tallinna t\u00fc\u00fcpi kivitrepikojaga puumaju. Sellist t\u00fc\u00fcpi majad moodustavad tervikliku rea T\u00fcrnpu t\u00e4naval, kus omal ajal kulges kitsar\u00f6\u00f6paline raudtee.\r\n\r\n\"history\"<\/a>\r\n\r\nFoto M.Arro. Hoone, mis asub J.Kappeli ja K.T\u00fcrnpu vahelisel alal, ehitus algas T\u00fcrnpu t\u00e4navapoolsest osast, kuhu rajati hobusetall. Sellele lisandus pesumaja, saunaruumid ja korterid, mille valmimisega 1882 aastal kerkis Tartu maantee \u00e4\u00e4rde tolleaegne moodne teenindusmaja.\r\n\r\nTorupilli asumi l\u00f5plik hoonestus toimus peale 1930 aastat, mil kerkisid \u00a0kivist 4-6 kordsed korterelamud Gonsiori t\u00e4nava ja Politseipargi kanti.
